North American Formula Renault 2000 Championship Announces 2004 Schedule

HOMESTEAD, Florida (February 16) --North American Formula Renault 2000 Championship officials announced their 2004 schedule today, with ten race dates confirmed for the inaugural season. The series will begin the season in the Valley of the Sun, on the weekend of April 8-10, racing on the 1.51-mile infield road course in conjunction with the Grand American Rolex Sports Car Series at Phoenix International Raceway.

The North American Formula Renault 2000 Championships will then head north to Canada on May 21-23, for the first of two visits for the series to beautiful Mont-Tremblant, with the second Tremblant event slated to take place at the renown Fall Classic in September. The series will also feature events at Watkins Glen, Trois Rivieres, Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course, Homestead Miami Speedway, Virginia International Raceway, and Barber Motorsport Park, with the season finale slated to take place on the road course at California Speedway in Fontana.

"We are very excited about our 2004 schedule," said Brett Ross, General Manager, North American Formula Renault 2000 Championship. "Racing at these venues will give our drivers not only experience on some fantastic tracks, but will also give the North American Formula Renault 2000 Championship a strong presence on some very big race weekends. This is an international series, and to have the opportunity to race in the United States as well as Canada is a great opportunity for our teams and the drivers."

The 2004 schedule has ten confirmed race events, and North American Formula Renault 2000 Championship officials are currently in negotiations with several properties to possibly add up to four more events for the season.
