He is now close behind the leader in the Championship standings

In front of a nice crowd, under a sunny sky, Formula Renault 2000 North America drivers gave a good show to the fans beginning with their spectacular standing start.

At the end Antoine Bessette, from St-Bruno Quebec, finished 4th just behind Championship leader Juan Martin Ponte. The winner was American Matt Jaskol.

While a bit frustrated, Antoine was nevertheless satisfied with his performance. "I was constrained to follow Ponte during most of the race. The car prepared by Team Aim was a bit faster than Ponte's car. But there was no room for any move. My car even hit his in the back two or three times but he was still there at the end. Good for him. These guys are much more experimented than me, but I am learning."

This result should put Antoine in third place in the championship standings equal with fellow Canadian Wilkins and only 17 points behind Argentinean Ponte.
