Top Five for Antoine Bessette in Formula Renault 2000 at Mont-Tremblant

"Starting eighth, I got a good start gaining two positions right away. After that I was able to keep the leaders within a short distance for five or six laps. I was running fourth when my rear left tire began to deteriorate. The car was then very difficult to drive.

"The gap with the leaders began to grow more and more. At the end of the race, I was not able to resist to a nice manoeuvre by Ricardo Imery and I finished fifth. The race was won by Mark Wilkins followed by Gustavo Sonderman and Rento Jader David. Back to the pits we found that the tire was seriously torn into shreds.

"The team and Michelin people are actually looking at the problem. Anyway it was a fun race and I can't wait for the next race at Watkins Glen (June 18-20) where I am definitively aiming at the podium."
