BAMBER BACK IN THE COCKPIT IN JAPAN THIS WEEKEND

Fast-rising young New Zealand racing driver Earl Bamber is back in the cockpit this weekend, this time in Japan where he will resume his battle for the 2008 Formula V6 Asia title.

The 18-year-old from Wanganui has hardly been out of a racing car in the last month, making a winning debut in the European Formula Master Series in Italy in September before claiming A1 Team.NZL's first A1GP World Cup of Motorsport series podium in The Netherlands on October 5 then second place in the feature race for his Malaysian-based My Team Qi-Meritus.Mahara team at the first round of the 2008 GP2 Asia series at Shanghai in China last Sunday.

This weekend's round of the 2008 Formula V6 Asia championship series is the fourth and after a clean-sweep of fastest time in both qualifying sessions and wins in both races at the third round in Sentul in Indonesia back in July Bamber leads the championship points standings from The Pizza Company Team Qi-Meritus teammate James Grunwell.

The 3.7km Okayama International Circuit (formerly known as T1 Circuit) is situated on the southern coast of the island of Honshu in the Okayama prefecture and hosted the Japanese Formula 1 Grand Prix in 1995.

This weekend is a big one for the circuit because as well as a round of the Formula V6 Asia championship series it is also hosting a round of the 2008 World Touring Car Championship.
