March3 Racing in FA2.0 Wet races in Shanghai
A delay in the arrival of the Formula Asia 2.0 containers to the Shanghai International Circuit has caused the Series organizers to make adjustments to the schedule, moving Rounds 10 & 11 to add to Rounds 12 & 13 scheduled on 6/7th December. This will mean that the teams will once again make their way to the Shanghai International Circuit in December as scheduled but for four back-to-back rounds in the closing stages of the Series' first season. However, there were two non-Championship races of FA2.0 on Sunday; the competitions were as tough as before, even more wonderful because of the continuous rain.
4 drivers from March3 racing have participated in the races, except Felix Rosenquist, this seemed to be the first wet race in Formula Renault 2000 for them. The rain didn't stop since Saturday morning in Shanghai area and had an obvious impact on the drivers. In race 1, all March3 drivers performed very carefully. Felix Rosenquist dropped to 6th when overtaken by the two drivers behind him at the start, and following were his three teammates, Zhu Daiwei, the only Chinese driver, Samin Gomez, the only female driver in this series, with Kenko Minura, the newcomer to the race.March3 drivers kept grouping together, only positions changes within them. When checkered flag, Zhu Daiwei, 6th; Kenko Miura, 7th; Felix Rosenquist, 8th with a mistake by himself, Samin Gomez, 9th.
In race 2, rain was getting harder and harder and more and more water appeared on the surface of the track. Compared with race 1, March3 drivers got used to the track situation very soon. Felix Rsenquist got 4th position with an impressive start from 8th, closely following three ART cars in front and obvious advantages with the drivers behind. In lap 7, Felix Rosenquist had a very tough competition with Mateusz Adanski in third, they were both eager to enter the corner and had different degrees of spin, the inevitable collision, happened, Mateusz's car damaged, there was obvious spark under the chassis, he had no choice but drive back and retired. Felix was encouraged by this overtaking, shortened the distance within 0.3 seconds with Mathias in second. He tried several times to do the overtaking, but failed. When 12 laps finished, Felix Rosenquist was 3rd on the podium; Zhu Daiwei 6th; Samin Gomez, 7th; Kenko Miura, 9th.
The continuous rain was a big challenge for the young March3 drivers, they spent a very short time to familiarize the circuit conditions, without any fear due to the lack of rain experiences, and finished the races without any accident. Felix Rosenquist and March3 racing still leading in the driver and team championship since these two races were non-championship. But ART team will keep pushing behind very hard, they had very impressive performance in the race weekend, occupied first and second in both races. These two most powerful team will have a tough competition to decide the title of Champion driver and Champion team at Shanghai International Circuit on 6/7th December
