Strong Pre-season start for Asia Racing Team

Asia Racing Team started the 2011 season off on the right foot. Zhi Cong Li, Naomi Zhang Ran, and Timothy Teo completed their first pre-season testing ahead the Chinese New Year at the Zhuhai International Circuit, with promising results.

AFR Series race winner Zhi Cong Li development continued to shine as the Asian Formula Renault series sophomore left an indelible exclamation mark after his six-day testing performance. The Chinese rising star quickly put up very strong times and made great progress experimenting various adjustments and correcting his driving mistakes.

Zhang Ran continued to explore new settings and amendments, and valuable information was gained and steps forward were made. The quickest female driver in China had a very good end of season but already break this winter her best lap time around the China's first permanent motor race track.

Timothy Teo is new to the sport but he has been impressing the team with his pace, application and feedback. The fearless Singaporean driver follows in the footsteps of single seaters racer compatriot Suriya Bala as he completes a test programme with the Asian Formula Renault championship winning team.

Philippe Descombes "With the 2011 racing season fast approaching, we need to start testing now. This test was only the beginning and a reflection of the drivers potential as things got off to a very good start. We know Zhi Cong Li and Zhang Ran from last season. Zhi Cong Li will be one to watch this season, and Zhang Ran is slowly improving her pace. The team have been very impressed with Tim. I think this pre season testing will give him a really good indication of how he needs to develop as a driver as his career continues. We will restart the preparation in mid February, when we expect Suriya Bala to join us."

Asia Racing Team, the 2010 Drivers and Teams AFR Series winning team, has places available for testing on February 7-16.
