Luca Casadei is dogged by misfortune again.
Today the second race away from home on the Austrian track; A1 Ring in Zeltweg for the Formula Renault 2000 Championship took place. The young driver Luca Casadei who didn't qualify very well in both races, managed to pull through in the first race. The second race was instead heavily influenced by misfortune.
In the first morning race, Luca Casadei started in 18°place but soon after found himself 20° due to a contact during the start. His tenacious character and his will to emerge pushed him to have the best time during the fifth lap. He maintained this rhythm for the rest of the race and finished in 12° place. Luca was partially satisfied but determined for the race 2.
Although Luca started in 24° position, he pushed himself to the limits and after the first lap was already in 14°place. Unfortunately soon after that bad luck struck again. Thanks to the slight contact at the start, Luca was forced to stop at the side of the track with some tyre damage. The race ended here for Luca who could have had a good race.
"After the free test session on Saturday my morale was down. I worked on the set-up of the car with the team but I wasn't satisfied. In fact, Saturday's qualifications weren't optimal. We continued to work hard and we were able to find the best set up. In race 1, I had the feeling that I could thrive. The 12°place of course didn't fully satisfy me but encouraged me to face race 2. A new set up was prepared for race 2 due to the change of temperature. At the start of the race I was convinced that I could do well. My will to fight emerged when I found myself in 14° place after just one lap...You could only imagine how disappointed I was when I was forced to retire because of the problem I had with the tyre."
Giuseppe Mazzotti "BVM Racing"
"This morning we were convinced that we would succeed and after race 1, I saw Luca calm and really ready to do his best. What can I say we were simply unlucky. The only regret is that if we had finished the race we would have won some points."
