Ashbourne, Co Meath, 8 January 2001 - Formula Ford Zetec Champion and Leinster Trophy winner Paul Dagg has purchased the Richard Antinucci Formula Renault 2000 car which finished 4th in the European championship.

Paul tested the CDR Formula Renault before Christmas and was so impressed with the car that he decided to buy the sister car from JD Motorsport and is in the process of having discussions with Cliff Dempsey Racing with a view to competing with the Irish based team in the Formula Renault 2000 Eurocup.

Team owner Cliff Dempsey said "Hopefully Paul will secure the funding and be in a position to come to Europe with us. He has had two fantastic seasons with CDR winning the Formula Ford Zetec Championship in 1999 and moved into Formula Europa in 2000 winning the Leinster Trophy and also the Dunlop Sexton Driver of the Year and missed out on the Formula Europa Championship by only one point."

CDR will be the first Irish owned and based team ever to compete in a European Championship and they are hoping to fill their three car team with another Irish driver.
