Cape Motorsports has announced Formula Car Race Series champion Mathias Soler as a driver for its new Formula 4 United States team.
Colombian Soler will be teammates with Steve Bamford in the F4 arm of the team owned by brothers Dominic and Nicolas Cape that has dominated the USF2000 championship for the past six years.
Soler won the Lucas Oil Formula Car Race Series championship in its inaugural season after a successful karting career in South America, Europe and the U.S.
“As a team, we are really excited to have Mathias onboard for the season,” said Dominic Cape. “The two-day test we just completed went really well and we're all looking forward to see him in action.”
Soler, who took five wins and six poles in the Formula Car series, said: “I’m really happy to start working with Cape Motorsports in the F4 US Championship. I’m looking forward to great results.”
The team will attend the official series test at NOLA Motorsports Park in New Orleans with Soler and Bamford. The opening round of the six-event series will be a tripleheader at Homestead-Miami Speedway on April 8-9.
