Michel Bonnet visits GP3R podium three times in a row
Three different drivers climbed on the top step of the GP3R podium, this weekend in Formula 1600. Michel Bonnet was not among them. But he did finish second in all three races.
Things started off well, Friday afternoon. A late full-course caution had bunched up the field and he could see race leader Jean-Philippe Jodoin just ahead. But in a mad sprint for the finish, Jodoin edged him by a mere two thousandth of a second.
Texas's Trenton Estep ran away with the lead, Friday evening, making it impossible for anyone to catch up. He won by some 17 seconds ahead of Bonnet, who ended up second again after a thrilling battle with Michael Adam.
Adam took his revenge Saturday. He managed to get ahead of Bonnet this time, overtaking him for the win in the second to last corner of the race. Didier Schraenen and Olivier Bédard also picked up podiums over the three-day Formula Tour 1600 visit to Trois-Rivières.
