Venturi driver Jacques Villeneuve will not get to make his third Formula E start this weekend in the Punta del Este ePrix, having to sit out the race after crashing out of qualifying.
The Canadian went into the wall under braking at the Turn 17/18 chicane during his sole flying lap in qualifying's Group 4.
He was unhurt in the crash and due to start the race in 18th place but, as confirmed by the Venturi team, the damage sustained by the VM200-FE-01 was too significant to be repaired in time.
Villeneuve had finished 14th on his Formula E debut in China after a clash with Antonio Felix da Costa, before taking 11th in the Putrajaya race.
He finished the first practice at Punta del Este in 18th, before moving up to 11th in FP2.
Villeneuve's teammate Stephane Sarrazin will start the race in 13th.
