Paris ePrix: Conway beats Vergne by 0.010s in final practice
Mike Conway set the fastest time in the second and final practice session for the inaugural Paris ePrix leading Jean Eric Vergne.
The Venturi driver peaked on a 1m01.386s to head Vergne DS Virgin entry, by a mere 0.010s.
Sam Bird’s committed early lap of 1m02.090s set the pace for much of the early running, but he damaged his DS Virgin DSV-01 soon after when he touched the wall. The contact damaged his left rear suspension and he returned to the pits.
The British driver went on to finish third after setting a best of 1m01.587s in is other car. The session saw Stephane Sarrazin be the first person to hit the wall when he lost his Venturi car on the approach to turn eight.
The Frenchman smote the wall and damaged the left front suspension and front wing but he was able to make it back to his pit.
Sarrazin made amends by immediately going temporarily quickest on a 1m02.052s in his other Venturi VM200-FE-01 car, before he was shuffled down the order to end up fifth.
Title protagonist Lucas di Grassi was fourth, while title rival Sebastien Buemi was down in 13th after not setting a 200kW lap.
Bruno Senna's strong run continued as he finished sixth ahead of Aguri's Antonio Felix da Costa and Nico Prost.
Daniel Abt ended ninth fastest with Dragon's Loic Duval completing the top 10, as teams get ready for qualifying action, later in the day.
As well as Sarrazin and Bird incidents, Abt again ran off in to the turn eight escape road, and Mahinra's Senna did likewise.
Robin Frijns spun his Andretti SRT01-e harmlessly at one of the chicanes.
The qualifying groups are:
