The third round of the FIA Formula E championship brought many steps forward for Team Trulli and Michela Cerruti at Punta del Este, as the Italian squad recorded their first top-5 finish and brought both cars to the checkered flag.

Michela progressively improved her marks over the weekend as she ended up the race in 12th before hitting the top-10 in the series' collective test session on Sunday. After a tough season start, she finally got the chance to catch a breather and catch-up from the early-season hiccups.

The race also delivered a 4th place to Jarno and both the team's cars were able to cross the line.

Even in Uruguay, things haven't been easy for the Italian female racer though. In practice, a brake issue slowed her down forcing her to play catch up for the rest of the day. During the race, she was fighting for the top-10 when a penalty for pit speeding forced here to lose positions.

Michela didn't experience a long wait to achieve the top-10 though. In the collective post-race test held at the Uruguayan street venue, she was finally able to get some real mileage, improving her laptimes considerably. She is now ready to be back on-track at Buenos Aires, in Argentina, on the 10th of January, 2015.

Michela Cerruti: "Despite some issues that cost me valuable time in the morning and sent me to the back of the grid, we had a good race pace in Punta del Este. I was constantly improving and without the drive-through, which was due to a mistake on my side, I would have ended up il 8th.

The test enabled me to catch up a little even though I was only able to turn a few laps in qualifying mode with full power.

The race pace improved further and there was a considerable improvement compared to the day before. The race also delivered a 4th place to Jarno and both the team's cars were able to cross the line. So overall, it's been a good weekend for us".
