The Indian Formula E squad revealed that it has received a "letter of intent" from the Indian Government which pledges the support for an ePrix in the city of Delhi from the officials.

Following this, the team has opened up a contest for the fans to design the circuit. Team principal Dilbagh Gill explained the requirements.

"We are looking for a track of approximately two to three kilometers long, with eight to 12 turns and space for a pit lane and our garages.

"We are inviting fans to comment on Facebook and Twitter with their ideas. It can be a sketch, a map, a photo or simply a piece of writing but we want to accelerate this project and get the race to India," he added.

"We have also reserved some exciting prizes for our favourite ideas so I am looking forward to see what all the Mahindrians out there come up with.”

Formula E's director of media and communications Ali Russell commented: “Formula E is a truly global sport with races spread across four continents.

"As a new racing series, Formula E acts as a platform to promote sustainable mobility and alternative energy solutions, and India is a perfect example of an important emerging market for the profile and production of electric vehicles.”

Mahindra had visited Delhi for the Auto Expo and a promotional event at the Buddh International Circuit where it told Motorsport.com about the plans to host an Indian ePrix in season four.
