The French racer will test for the renamed squad on Tuesday with a view to possibly racing for the Aguri Suzuki-fronted team in season two.

"I have been trying to get a chance to test for a long-time to show what I can do in a car like Formula E,” Berthon told Motorsport.com.

“Aguri have given me this opportunity and I am happy. I love the series because it is not just about being fast; it is also about strategy and driver responsibility in managing the race.

"I have shown this is a strong part of my driving, especially in endurance racing but also too with managing the tyres in GP2.”

Motorsport.com understands that Berthon is visiting the Aguri factory at Donington on Friday for his seat fitting and will be hitting the track on Tuesday morning, following on from Nicolas Lapierre on Monday.

Berthon is among several drivers believed to be in contention for a season two Team Aguri seat.

“I am just focusing on this test for the moment,” said Berthon. “As I said, I would very much like to race in the Formula E Championship, especially as there is a race in Paris now.

"This is attractive because we now have no Grand Prix in France, so it would be very nice to race on the streets of our capital city next year.

"I am also proud to be asked by a big name like Aguri Suzuki who has achieved so much in racing.”

Berthon, 26, has significant experience in single-seaters having won in both GP2 and Renault 3.5, and has also competed in the 2013 and 2014 Le Mans 24 Hours and ELMS with a Murphy Prototypes-run Oreca-Nissan.
