Formula E has announced it will add an extra practice session for the upcoming Long Beach ePrix next month.
Instead of the usual two 45- and 30-minute long practice sessions, the American event will feature three 25-minute ones.
The reason for the change, according to Formula E, is to maximise the battery charging time because of the remote location of the garages.
All three sessions will take place before qualiying.
"In Long Beach we are using part of the IndyCar circuit along Shoreline Drive therefore we are using a similar style pitlane with the garages in a remote paddock," said Formula E's sporting manager Benoit Dupont.
"To maximise charging time and allow team to more time to manage the cars in between sessions we altered the timetable to include three shorter sessions."
The Long Beach event takes place on April 4.
