Oliver Turvey will make his Formula E race debut for NEXTEV TCR at the London ePrix next weekend, Motorsport.com can exclusively reveal.
The McLaren factory driver will partner champion-elect Nelson Piquet Jr in the Chinese team's line-up for the final two races of the inaugural season at Battersea Park.
Turvey becomes the fourth driver to race alongside Piquet this season, Ho-Pin Tung, Antonio Garcia and Charles Pic having all filled the team's second seat at various stages of the first season.
Turvey, 28, finished a close second in the LMP2 class in last weekend's Le Mans 24 Hours, driving for the Jota Sport team.
Motorsport.com understands that although employed by McLaren, the move does not indicate any significant partnership between the Woking marque and NEXTEV TCR for Formula E's second season at this stage.
Confirmation from NEXTEV TCR is expected to come later on Wednesday.
