Exclusive: Formula E season two calendar submitted

Motorsport.com understands that the draft calendar includes 11 dates and 12 races, with the London ePrix again planned as the season-finale double header at the end of June 2016.

The season is set to begin on October 17 in Beijing, using the same circuit around the ‘Birds Nest’ Olympic Park that opened the first season of the championship.

The other host cities expected to appear on the schedule are Putrajaya, Buenos Aires, Punta Del Este, Long Beach, Mexico City, Paris, Berlin and Moscow.

Paris is set to stage a race in the heart of the Invalides district of the city centre, close to the Eiffel Tower. Motorsport.com understands that Formula E has submitted an April 24 date.

Jim Michaelian, president and CEO of the Grand Prix Association of Long Beach, was at the London ePrix last weekend and held discussions with senior Formula E officials after initial doubts that Long Beach would get a slot.

No Miami nor Monaco

Missing from the venues used in season one are Miami and Monaco.

Monaco is likely to return in season three, as the event will alternate with the Monaco Historic meeting and thus become a bi-annual event. Miami's departure would leave a hole in the calendar in March.

The Punta Del Este round, run alongside the Atlantic Ocean, will again happen in December. January will essentially become a winter break month before events in Buenos Aires and Mexico City in February.

The Mexican race is set to use a modified version of the F1 track, as previously reported.

Motorsport.com also understands that there will be three weeks each between the Paris, Berlin and Moscow ePrix events, and then two weeks to the double-header season finale at Battersea Park.

WEC date clashes avoided

The end-of-season run-in should be met favourably by the many FIA WEC drivers who compete in Formula E as there are not likely to be any date clashes.

The Moscow and London events will also avoid clashes with the already-announced Le Mans test on June 5 and the Le Mans 24 Hours itself on June 18/19.

A mooted event in Kazakhstan is not on the season two calendar, but could be included at a later stage.

Other potential races for season three are believed to include Brussels, Lugano, Rome, Montreal and Naples.
