Buemi blames himself for losing title

Sebastien Buemi has admitted he only has himself to blame after he spun in the London ePrix, losing him the vital position he needed to win the championship in the series finale.

Buemi lost a position to Bruno Senna when he spun soon after his pitstop, and this proved crucial with points leader Nelson Piquet Jr rising up to seventh from 16th on the grid.

Although Buemi tried everything to repass Senna, including banging wheels on the last lap, it meant Piquet won the title by one point.

“I did a little mistake exiting the box, basically I lost a place and that’s the place that basically lost the championship,” said Buemi. “I’m really disappointed but it’s like that. It was obviously not enough.

“Nearly there is not there. It’s like that, you have to accept it.

“Congratulations to Nelson, he did a great job. We’ll come back next year.”
