The FIM Track Racing Sidecar Gold Trophy, which was to have been held in Werlte, Germany, on August 6, was eventually cancelled because of adverse weather conditions.

The meeting, which was being branded as a 'try-out' for full world championship status, should have seen four Australian teams in action, against outfits from Great Britain and the Netherlands.

Instead, severe rain forced the cancellation of the original August 6 date, and attempts to prepare the surface for action the following day proved futile.

At this stage, the FIM has not announced whether the meeting will be re-scheduled.

The Aussie teams which made the trek over to Germany were Dave Bottrell-Peter Teale, Darrin Treloar-Justin Plaisted, Scott Christopher-Trent Koppe and Mark Plaisted-Samuel Harrison.

In addition, two other antipodeans, New Zealander Rob Winspear and Australian Rob Patterson, were to ride as passengers for British teams.
