Arjun Maini will replace Oscar Tunjo in Jenzer Motorsport's GP3 line-up for the upcoming round at Silverstone.
Maini, 18, will be making his GP3 debut, having spent the past year and a half in Formula 3 racing.
A former BRDC F4 runner-up, the Indian joined T-Sport's European F3 stable for 2016 but has struggled to be competitive with the package and ended up pulling out of the most recent round at the Norisring.
In its announcement, Jenzer has confirmed Maini is "keeping his options open" and could see out the GP3 season with the Swiss team.
Maini's arrival means that former Lotus F1 junior Tunjo appears to be left without a seat early on in the GP3 campaign for the second year running.
Tunjo, who won with Trident in Austria last year but left the team a round later, had scored all of Jenzer's points in 2016 so far - and took a podium in the season opener at Catalunya.
