Tunjo tops Day 1 of final GP3 pre-season test

The Colombian, set his quickest time of 1m33.554s in the morning, as did most of the field, with Tunjo beating Ferrari junior Antonio Fuoco by nearly three tenths.

The leading pair was followed by Koiranen duo Ralph Boschung, Matt Parry and the Arden pair of Jack Aitken and Tatiana Calderon.

Charles Leclerc ended up as the fastest ART in seventh, narrowly beating Matevos Isaakyan, who had made his Formula V8 3.5 debut in the previous weekend.

The top 10 was made up by Japanese F3 convert Nirei Fukuzumi and local driver Alex Palou.

Although Leclerc topped the timesheets in the afternoon, having led the final hour of the session, his time fell 1.6s shy to Tunjo's morning benchmark.

The Monegasque Ferrari protege narrowly held on to first place with Jake Hughes and Palou both just three hundredths off the pace.

Haas development driver Santino Ferrucci, Steijn Schothorst, Alex Albon and Tunjo completed the top seven, separated by less than three tenths.
