ADDAX TEAM SHOW SIGNS OF COMPETITIVITY IN GERMANY.

At last there was a light at the end of the tunnel for the GP3 Addax Team in the races which took place this weekend at the German circuit of Hockenheim. After what has been, until now, a pretty poor season in terms of results the team has managed to react and not before time. Mirko Bortolotti scored points in both races and Felipe Guimarães also scored points and finished 7th , just outside the points. The Italian driver finished 4th on the verge of a podium position.

Mirko Bortolotti has had a good weekend. He started with a 17th place finish in the free practice. He improved in qualification setting the 15th fastest time. In the first race he started from 16th position. The race was full of incidents and accidents, which the Addax Team driver was able to avoid and climb to a magnificent 6th position and a points scoring position. The result also meant that, for the second race, he would start from third on the grid. The second race, like the first, was full of incidents which meant that the safety car had to come out on track a number of times. Mirko once again was able to avoid trouble and finished 4th.Bortolotti picked up valuable points in both races and in the second race was just off the podium, which demonstrates that he is on the way up and now is time to confirm this progress in the second half of the season.

Felipe Guimarães continues making steady progress in this class, despite not having seen any of the circuits before. His driving qualities and his adaptation to the car means that his results are beginning to improve. He set the 11th fastest time in free practice but was only 24th in qualification and was further penalized to 27th on the starting grid. Felipe produced the greatest fightback of the weekend climbing no less than twenty positions to finish 7th at the end of the race and in the points. He started from 2nd on the grid for Sunday's second race but he spun after going too wide. It was shame because he had been fighting it out with the leading drivers for a podium position. The safety car prevented him from improving on his race position and he finished outside the points. The great fightback on Saturday and the possibility to compete among the best on Sunday indicate that Guimarães has at last, adapted well to this class and his objective is now point scoring positions.

Pablo Sanchez Lopez, is also making progress. He started the weekend with 29th in free practice but improved on this with a 20th position in the qualification. He did not finish the race because as he was fighting for a higher position he was involved in an incident. This left him in the lowly 20th position that he started from the grid. Nevertheless he drove a great race climbing nine places to finish in a very creditable 11th position. It's a shame that Pablo started from such a low position on the grid or that he was involved in an accident in the first race. Having started from 29th in the first race to eventually finish 11th on Sunday deserves a mention. The young Mexican driver is close to showing his true talent and the prospects look good for the remaining races, in this, the second half of the championship.

Addax Team, after a satisfactory weekend, have made a big jump in the classification and are now in mid-table thanks to Mirko Bortolitti and Felipe Guimarães, who have moved into the top half of the table in the driver's championship.

The next round of the GP3 takes place at the Hungarian circuit of Hungaroring as part of the Formula 1 event next weekend.
