Alvaro Parente had today at Valencia a good qualifying for the first GP2 race of the European Formula 1 Grand Prix, and will start from the sixth position of the grid, though he suffered some physical problems.

The young Portuguese looked at the Valencian weekend with the will to achieve a good result and in the morning practice he showed that he had the pace to fight for the top position, after signing the seventh best lap.

The qualifying was held under a heat wave, but Alvaro Parente proved again that he could be among the frontrunners. The Ocean Racing Technology driver suffered an injury in his neck during the morning practice. Nevertheless, with the tenacity that distinguishes him, he battled his way around during the qualifying session and achieved the sixth position. "I think it was hard to do better than this! The car is well balanced and we are competitive, which makes me confident. This qualifying wasn't easy, because it was very hot and my neck was in pain, after my morning injury", said the drivers supported by Soccerade, Delta, TMN, Aurora Group, Geotur and Cision.

Tomorrow's race, that will have thirty-four laps, will be very hard for the twenty-four years old driver, because of the heat that is expected and due to his physical problems. Though, Alvaro Parente assures that he will give his best and has as main goal to end in the points, but has the podium in his sights. "It won't be an easy race! But, as always, I'll give my best and I want to end in the top-eight so we can score some more points and get a good grid position for the Sunday race. The podium isn't beyond our reach and, if I have the opportunity, I'll grab it with both hands", underlined the driver from Oporto that this season has as best result the second place attained at Nurburgring.
