In what has been, without doubt, the best and most thrilling race of the present season, the Barwa Addax Team driver, Vitaly Petrov has run out winner after having won his close fought battle with the current leader of the event. Both drivers spared absolutely nothing, as they dominated the race from start to finish, having started from the front row of the starting grid. Davide Valsecchi, making his debut for the Spanish team, has driven a good race, finishing in eleventh place, which could have been better, if he hadn't been caught up in an an incident with one of his rivals.

Vitaly drove a really impressive race. He had already shown that he was in the mood for battle after his excellent qualification session, which was cut short due to electric problems. Petrov made a great start and pressed Nico from the off attacking him at the first corner. It was clear that the German was going wide so the Barwa Addax Team driver took advantage and was out in front. However, Hulkenburg was lucky enough to get back on track unscathed and he, in turn, started to pressure the Russian driver. The two drivers, who have given us a lot of great moments this year, turned this one into the most exciting race of the season. 32 laps of intensive battle where both drivers gave us everything they had and lots of thrilling moments to remember.

One of the key factors to the eventual outcome of the race was the magnificent pit stop strategy, including compulsory tyre change. The French team decided to do their pit stop with 17 laps to go. The Spanish team reacted immediately and after a fast lap they made their stop on the following lap, to ensure that Vitaly kept his lead intact. Hulkenberg made an all out assault on Petrov, but the Barwa Addax Team driver held on without making the slightest mistake, until his tyres started to warm up and he was able to fight on equal terms Lap after lap the battle seemed to intensify and the drivers entertained us with some spectacular driving. There was one worrying moment, when the Russian blocked hard on the brakes and he was lucky not to get shunted from behind by his maximum rival.

Nevertheless, both drivers are dominating the GP 2 Series class and are demonstrating that there is a lot of talent at this level, ready to step up to F1. After today's tremendous victory Vitaly Petrov is demonstrating that it might not be too long before he follows in the footsteps of his ex-team mate in Barwa Addax Team, Romain Grosjean.

Davide Valsecchi continues to adapt well to the new car and the team. He drove a very good race and was climbing through the field and had managed to get to eighth place which meant a points position and a possible pole for tomorrow's race. However his progress came to an abrupt halt when a rival made an overtaking manoeuvre that was totally unfortunate and unnecessary, braking far to late and colliding with the Barwa Addax Team driver.

As a result of this senseless decision the other driver involved was forced to retire and Valsecchi was left with a broken rear suspension which meant he dropped down to eleventh position finishing the race with a lot of difficulties.
