CARROLL ESCAPES AFTER MASSIVE CRASH

Great Britain's Adam Carroll escaped after a major crash in race 2 of the GP2 season. After hitting the car in front, he flew through the air before rolling though the gravel trap. Luckily he came out unscathed.

"I did it in front of the crowd, which pleased them so I think I've got a whole new fan base here in Spain," the 23 year old from Portadown in Northern Ireland, joked.

"In all seriousness though, I am lucky I'm okay. I'm not sure if Valles braked early or I was too close, we were all racing for places. I knew as soon as I saw the sky on the way back down that I was going to roll. It's actually the first time I've ever rolled in my 14 years of motor sport!"

The race had got off to a good start with Carroll starting from 14th in his Racing Engineering car and looking set for a 7th place finish in the 25 lap race in Valencia.

He'll be hoping for a slightly less dramatic weekend in Imola in a fortnight when normal service is resumed with GP2 supporting the European Formula One races.
