Bad luck for Trident Racing in Barcelona
The second day of testing in Barcelona was not really lucky for Trident Racing. Pastor Maldonado, who had his 22nd birthday today, went off track in the opening stages of the PM session, and was forced to call it quits due to the heavy damage suffered by his Dallara. Kohei was not able to express the full potential of his car due to the several red flags and a physical fitness problem occurred at the end of the day.
Alessandro Alunni Bravi - Team Principal
"Today it wasn`t a very positive day for us, because we weren`t able to complete the development work we prevented. Pastor made a mistake at turn 3, and the impact left the car severely damaged. It`s a pity because he had one set of new tires left, that would have allowed us to evaluate the pure performance of the car in qualify conditions. Kohei completed his morning schedule regularly, but once again he could not express all car`s potential due to the many interruptions he encountered when he was on new rubber. Then in the afternoon he got very tired physically, and we were not able to receive the feedback we hoped".
Kohei Hirate - Pos.24
"Im really happy with the balancing of our car in race configuration. We still have to improve the response on new tires, and we have one test left to optimize that. I`m confident for the start of the season".
Pastor Maldonado - Pos.13
"Unfortunately at the start of the PM session I lost control of my car at turn 3, and I hit the barriers heavily. It`s a fifth gear turn that can be approached at high speed, but I suffered no physical damage. I`m also sorry for not being able to use my fresh tires, because I know that we would have improved the best time we had in the morning session".
