Circuit De Catalunya

Trident Racing completed their Spanish weekend at Barcelona with the running of Race 2, a 26-lap heat that completed the second round of the 2011 GP2 Main Series. Rodolfo Gonzalez finished in 10th, while Stefano Coletti, who was running in 6th, was forced to retire with 2 to go due to a contact with an opponent's car

The team and drivers are already heading towards the Principality of Monaco, with the earlier GP2 action set to start on Thurdsay. The traditional round at Monte Carlo has become a classic for all the teams and drivers and Trident Racing hopes to write a new chapter in the successful history of the team at the venue.

Rodolfo Gonzalez (10.)
“There's been some tense moments at the start when Van der Garde and Bianchi made contact in front of me and I was almost hit by a piece of debris from Giedo's car. Nonetheless, I managed to keep my nose clean. The car proved really consistent over the whole distance, and I didn't suffer from excessive tire wear untile 5 to go, when I started experiencing an heavy oversteer. I believe that with no traffic I could have lapped on faster times but that's the way it goes when you're not starting from one of the front rows. Now I'm looking forward to Monte Carlo, one of my favourite circuits. I hope for a good qualifying result in order to start my weekend in the best possible way...”

I hope to strike back at Monte Carlo.

Stefano Coletti

Stefano Coletti (DNF)
“I've been off to a good start and I exited the first corner in 6th. In the early stages, the car's performance was really good but I found Valsecchi in front of me, and he managed to cover any passing opportunity. It's been a great duel, quite aggressive but always fair. Then in the second half of the race the car's performance started to fade progressively, and from 5 laps to go the rear tires had no more grip. I tried to defend myself but with two to go there's been a contact with Kral and we were both forced to retire. I hope to strike back at Monte Carlo. It will be a really special race for me.”
