Stéphane Richelmi: The GP2 collective tests are concluded in Abu Dhabi
Excellent performance of Stéphane Richelmi who confirms the good feeling with DAMS car.
An intensive three-day for the 26 GP2 drivers who are preparing themselves for the start of the 2014 season. The evaluation for Stephane Richelmi is surely positive. Thanks to the experience gained in previous years, the Monegasque driver has found a good feeling with his car and with the DAMS team, recording good times and winning the top positions in each session.
After the 4th and 3rd time on Tuesday, Richelmi has continued the fastest laps on Thursday morning, finishing in 2nd position, then he has focused on the race simulation, changes of set-ups, fuel loads and tire testing . Even today, the last day available at the Yas Marina circuit, driver and team have decided to focus on long runs completing several laps."The days of tests went well although I still need to improve some detail - Stéphane said after the test - This afternoon (Thursday) we could look for the best time but the weather conditions, due to the sandstorm, and a wheel lock in the lap 17 have made things more difficult. Anyway, I was obviously very happy to find the team after the winter break. My teammate is, as I knew it, very fast, and we work well together to push the team in the right direction. This track was one of those where I felt less at ease last year and so I think things will get even better next week in Bahrain."
Before the official start of the season, Richelmi will come back on track in the Bahrain circuit from 19 to 21 March for the last test and then he will be ready for the first appointment in Gp2 calendar the week-end of 5-6 April.
