The Direxiv Motorsport drivers Olivier Pla,Hiroki Yoshimoto and Clivio Piccione battled their way through the spray in a chaotic GP2 qualifying session at the classic Spa-Francorchamps circuit. Heavy rain made the track trecherous and getting a clear lap was almost impossible. Despite this Hiroki Yoshimoto (BCN) did an excellent job to set the seventh fastest time. Olivier Pla (DPR) lost a potential top six place when one of three red flags brought his best run to a halt, while Clivio Piccione (Durango) was on course for pole position when he spun.

Hiroki Yoshimoto, BCN Competicion: 7th - 2m15.163
"At least I managed to get one clear lap. It was so tough out there with the spray and all of the red flags - even on my best lap I lost speed with traffic through the first corner. I was also blocked twice by Scott Speed. I don't know what he thought he was doing. I really hope it's a dry race, because with six cars in front of me on the grid I won't be able to see anything!"

Olivier Pla, David Price Racing: 13th - 2m15.725s
"The car was so slow at the start of the session I was nowhere. We lowered the tyre pressures and the ride height and straight away I found five seconds. I was on an even quicker lap that was maybe top six when the red flag came out. In the end it's not so bad because now we know the car has the pace - before it was just terrible."

Clivio Piccione, Durango Racing Team: 14th - 2m15.845s "On the last lap I set the best sector times in the first and second parts of the lap. All I had to do was close the lap to seal a front row position. But I was driving on the limit and I put a wheel on a kerb and the car just spun. It's very frustrating, but we have a good car and I'm sure that we can move a long way forward in the race."

Misato Haga, President and CEO, Direxiv Motorsport:
"On such a tricky and fast track, the drivers had their work cut out with the heavy rainfall during the session, but all three did a good job to post competitive times in such conditions."
