Clivio looks forward to his return to Spa

As the GP2 Championship enters its final European race of the season in Spa, Belgium Clivio Piccione is looking forward to getting behind the wheel of his Durango GP2 car and take on one of the most challenging circuits in motorsports on 9th - 11th September.

Clivio explains:
"For me, Spa is the most exciting circuit on the GP2 calendar. I drove here in the F3 Euro Cup last year and came second and I've also raced here a few times in British F3 and Formula Ford so I've got to know the circuit pretty well.

There's something very special about the track, and you can feel the magic around as you enter the circuit. Spa has everything you could wish for as a driver with long straights, super-fast corners, tight sections naturally flowing together with a lot of changes in elevation. Flat out, it's incredibly physically demanding but pushing it to the limit here is very satisfying - I love it!

Eau Rouge is definitely the highlight at Spa although it's difficult to get an idea of the gradient and real feel for it on TV. Basically, you come out of a fast downhill straight to see Eau Rouge building up like a rockface in front of you, so it's like climbing a huge wall. The sharp change in gradient is so fast and steep that you experience a combination of high horizontal and vertical G-forces. Really awesome! It's like a rollercoaster and I can't wait to take it flat out in a GP2 car! Another exciting corner is Blanchimont - it's a very quick double left-hander and you don't know how the car is holding on at that corner until the exit, so it's pretty cool!

This weekend, I think the GP2 cars will adapt quite quickly to the circuit with all the ground effect and downforce we have on the cars. Finding the right set-up will be crucial on Friday though as there are so many different things to consider. Also the weather can be pretty crazy here in Spa - it can be different on one side of the track to the other which makes racing interesting!

Spa has been my focus since the beginning of the season and as it's the last race in Europe, I think it's important to do well here. I'm really looking forward to getting back out there on track and proving my pace, as a good result in Spa goes a long way in motorsport."
