DIREXIV MOTORSPORT DRIVER REPORT
The Direxiv Motorsport drivers Clivio Piccione, Olivier Pla and Hiroki Yoshimoto had encouraging performances in race one at Silverstone, with Piccione and Pla adding to their points tally, while Yoshimoto gained valuable track experience on his first visit to Britain's premier circuit. Durango's Piccione drove a strong and consistent race to rise from 10th to sixth, while David Price Racing driver Pla benefited from Adam Carroll's late retirement to snatch eighth and pole position for race two. BCN Competicion's Yoshimoto lost out in the pit stops to finish 14th.
Clivio Piccione, Durango Racing Team:
6th - 59:17.373
"The team decided to pit late and it was a good strategy. The final laps were really tough as I was suffering with a lot of oversteer on worn tyres. The car is definitely better than it was in Magny Cours and a podium finish tomorrow would make me really happy."
Olivier Pla, David Price Racing:
8th - 59:24.373
"At last the luck appears to be with me! It was a hard race and I was under a lot of pressure from Giorgio Pantano and then Jose Maria Lopez. The team made some changes to the car and I am confident for tomorrow. I want to win for sure, but a podium would still be a good result."
Hiroki Yoshimoto, BCN Competicion:
14th - 59:31.073
"I think we're lost. The car was impossible to drive in traffic and it felt like it would spin at the exit of every corner. Plus we lost three places with a slow pit stop. It was a very tough race."
Misato Haga, President and CEO, Direxiv Motorsport:
"This was a mixed race for the Direxiv Drivers. Clivio drove a strong race to finish sixth and Olivier finally got a reward for all his hard work with pole position for tomorow and a championship point. Unfortunately for Hiroki, his car had too many problems for him to bring home some points."
