Di Grassi fourth at Silverstone

Lucas di Grassi took fourth place in the Saturday GP2 race at Silverstone, and despite a frustrating afternoon the Renault Driver Development squad member has gained ground on his two main title rivals, and lies third in the championship standings overnight.

Di Grassi had a good qualifying session, and secured third on the grid with the ART car. He maintained that position from the start, but came under heavy pressure from championship leader Timo Glock. On the fourth lap Glock squeezed past at the Abbey chicane, and as he tried to fight back Lucas lost another place to Adam Carroll.

Lucas pitted on lap 10 and during the stop sequence he lost out to Kazuki Nakajima. However a drive through penalty for Carroll and a retirement for Glock allowed him to move up to fourth.

"I was quite happy with third in qualifying. I did a very good lap, and was eight tenths quicker than my team mate.

"In the race Glock was much, much quicker than me, I tried to hold him, and we almost crashed. The car wasn't very good today, and we struggled a little bit for pace, especially with the first set of tyres before the pit stop. We lost a lot of pace and we couldn't get Nakajima after we lost the position in the pit stop. We were much slower anyway.

"We need to work overnight to see if we can do better tomorrow."

Lucas will start the Sunday sprint race from fifth place on the reversed grid.
