Clivio in top ten after tight Qualifying session

The Qualifying session for the first race of the British GP2 race weekend at Silverstone Circuit proved a closely fought affair for Clivio Piccione with less than a tenth of a second separating him from the next three drivers. Clivio will start tomorrow's race from 10th place on the grid alongside Nicolas Lapierre.

Clivio used the half-hour morning Free Practice session to assess modifications the team had made to the brake system and concentrate on the set-up of his car ahead of the afternoon Qualifying session.

On his second run of the afternoon and with a new set of tyres, Clivio posted his fastest lap at the end of the session with a 1:32.395 to place him in 11th position closely behind Lapierre, Pantano and Speed. Due to Alexandre Premat's ten place penalty from the previous race, Clivio gains a position and so will start from 10th on the grid.

Clivio:
"I'm pretty happy with today's result as it means I'm in for a chance to score some points tomorrow. It was an incredibly tight session for me and I missed out on a couple of grid places as four cars finished on the same tenth at the end of Qualifying. The main thing is, we managed to resolve the brake problem from Magny Cours which I'm really pleased about and although the car still has some understeer, we're in pretty good shape for tomorrow. There are still a few bits and pieces to work on but overall the car feels good and I'm happy with the set-up we've found for the first race tomorrow."
