DOUBLE PODIUM AT HOME GRAND PRIX GP2: SILVERSTONE RACE 2
For the second day running, Great Britain's Adam Carroll finished 3rdin the GP2 race at Silverstone. It ends what has been a positive weekend for the 23 year old, with pole position, two podiums and total points haul of 12, over the weekend. "It's been a good step forward in terms of points and results this weekend but I would have to like to have had car to take me to second place today" said the Racing Engineering driver.
"I had expected to be up near the front and challenging for a podium but to get two 3rd positions is great and pole position was a little extra". It was a typically eventful race with two formation laps after several stallers on the grid.
Yesterday's 3rdplace finish meant a 6thposition start for today's race. He moved up to 5th but was soon passed by fellow Brit Lewis Hamilton, the eventual race winner. A flawed move by Nelson Piquet Jr caused a shake up of the front 6 and Adam seized the opportunity to move up to 4thas others were caught up in the chaos. He then swooped past Clivio Piccione in the DPR car going on to finish 3rdfor the second day running.
The next GP2 round is in one month's time in France and Carroll, from Portadown in Northern Ireland hopes to have made the necessary changes to be challenging not only for podiums but for race wins.
"We need to use the test at Paul Ricard to step forward and make the improvements that will let me win races again. I won threelast year in this series and I'm determined to do it again."
