Racing Engineering signs Nato for upcoming GP2 season

French driver Norman Nato will contest his second season in GP2 in 2016, having made the switch from Arden to Racing Engineering.

Nato, 23, joins an all-sophomore line-up in the Spanish team, which has previously re-signed Briton Jordan King.

In the six years he's raced in single-seaters thus far, Nato finished runner-up to Stoffel Vandoorne in the F4 Eurocup 1.6 in 2010 - and runner-up to Daniil Kvyat in FR2.0 Alps in 2012.

After two years of Formula Renault 3.5 with DAMS yielded two wins and an overall best finish of seventh, the Frenchman entered GP2 last year - and would finish 18th after an uneven campaign.

"I am really pleased to join Racing Engineering this season for the GP2 championship," Nato said. "It is a very experienced team that has already won the GP2 championship twice.

"The Abu Dhabi post-season test went well and it was a logical decision to keep working together for the 2016 season. After a first season to discover and learn about the GP2 series in 2015, my aim is now to be a front runner in every race meeting in order to fight for the title."

Racing Engineering's two drivers' titles in GP2 came courtesy of Giorgio Pantano and Fabio Leimer.

Last year, a line-up of King and Alexander Rossi took the squad to the runner-up spot in the teams' standings.

"We are very pleased to announce that Norman Nato has joined us for the 2016 season," said team boss Alfonso de Orleans-Borbon.

"After seeing the progress he made during last season, it was discussed that he would be ready to join our team. Now that it is a reality, we are all working hard to get ready for the first test of the season.

"We expect Norman to be competitive from the first race of the season since has the talent and the work ethic to step up on the podium from the beginning."
