HO-PIN TUNG SPUN OFF AFTER LONG BATTLE

With mixed feelings Chinese-Dutch racing driver Ho-Pin Tung left the famous Nurburgring in Germany, this morning after a DNF in the second GP2-race of this weekend. He drove competitive lap times, fought a frustrating long midfield battle with Durango-pilot Garcia, but spun off in a do or die attempt to overtake in the third last lap.

'In spite of my DNF I am not too unhappy,' tells Ho-Pin immediately after this mornings' race. 'My lap times were good, close to the top of the field. I could push hard all race. A new engine was built in during the night, which helped a lot. To be absolutely sure I will get another new engine at the Hungaroring.'

About the race incident with Garcia Ho-Pin explains: 'From the start I found myself stuck behind Garcia, very frustrating. Every attempt to overtake him failed, giving him a few meters advantage, every time again. Close to the finish I had a very good slipstream and I prepared overtaking Garcia at the chicane. He kept his race line, I did hit him and spun off, Garcia finished three laps later as 12th'.

Optimistically Ho-Pin Tung looks ahead to the next race at the Hungaroring, in two weeks time. With a good balance in the car and a new engine we should be able to do well. If all pieces fall into place I feel we could impress.'
