BRUNI DOMINATES THE NURBURGRING RACE BUT IS FORCED TO RETIRE; LAUDA OUT AT THE START

Nurburgring - after yesterday's really unusual puncture, in today's race Gianmaria Bruni was forced to retire when he was in the lead.

The young Roman driver had a great launch from the pole position and started the race with the right foot.

During the first laps, Gimmi pulled away out front and no other driver was able to keep his pace. But when he had already put seven second between himself and his closest rival, the unexpected occurred.

Bruni was forced to a pit stop by an electrical problem to the gearbox, and, because of the severity of it, was forced to retire.

" We had a week-end dogged by misfortune" said Gimmi at the end of the race " Yesterday I was knocked out by a tyre problem, today the electrical problem to the gearbox finished the job. It's a shame for the points we have lost, because we were really strong on this circuit".

Bad race also for the other Coloni driver. Mathias Lauda was forced to retire after he bumped into the BCN driver Viso. The collision was rough, and Lauda had to get back to the pits with a bended suspension.

"It's really hard to have to give up two consecutive podium finishes" said Paolo Coloni after the race "Once again this week-end we proved our supremacy, unfortunately we didn't get any results". The next appointment with GP2 is scheduled on the first week-end of July at Magny Cours.
