Clivio looks ahead to the Nürburgring
Clivio Piccione is setting his sights on the fourth round of the GP2 series at the Nürburgring, Germany on May 28th - 29th after a frustrating result in Monaco last weekend.
Clivio achieved his highest qualifying position to date at Monaco with 6th place. A very strong start saw him pull up to 4th place and already by lap two, he showed electrifying speed posting the fastest lap of the field. Clivio was chasing eventual race winner Adam Carroll for a podium position when on lap 12, the Monegasque driver was forced to retire from his first home race after hitting the barriers on the exit of the Swimming Pool chicane.
Clivio's speed in the Monaco race proves his status as a GP2 frontrunner. The competitiveness of his Durango car suggests that the reliability problems that coloured the first races seem to have been resolved.
Clivio is now looking ahead to the next two races at the Nürburgring and is aiming to pick up valuable Championship points for the Venetian Durango team.
"The race in Monaco proved I have the pace and ability to fight for a podium position. It's a very tight turnaround going into the next two races at the Nürburgring so we really need to make sure we make the most of our practice time on track to get the best set-up for Qualifying. This will be my first time at the Nürburgring so I'm also looking forward to getting out there and learning the circuit. I think we really deserve a good result at the weekend. We have all the right ingredients to put in a strong performance so I'm looking for a top three finish to show how quick we can really be."
