Nato completes Racing Engineering sweep of Jerez test

Racing Engineering's Norman Nato was the pacesetter on the final day of the GP2 pre-season test in Jerez, meaning that all three days of the event were headed by the Spanish team.

Nato had topped the proceedings on Day 1 before teammate Jordan King took over on Day 2.

And while the Frenchman would then go quickest on Day 3, he came up less than a tenth short of King's Wednesday time, which ended up the best lap of the test.

Nato's best lap on Thursday - a 1m24.518s - was set early on in the morning session, as he headed compatriot Arthur Pic (Rapax).

And only ART's Nobuharu Matsushita prevented a French 1-2-3 out front, placing third ahead of Red Bull junior Pierre Gasly, with Williams development driver Alex Lynn in fifth.

Six more drivers went below the 1m25s mark in the morning - Sergey Sirotkin, Antonio Giovinazzi and Nicholas Latifi were all within 0.017s of Lynn in sixth through eighth, ahead of Nicholas Latifi, King, Luca Ghiotto and Gustav Malja.

The afternoon session, concluding the GP2 pre-season, was headed by Pic, with only teammate Malja and the Russian Time duo of Artem Markelov and Raffaele Marciello within a second of the Frenchman.
