GOOD CHANCES FOR HO-PIN TUNG RUINED

A too bold colleague and brake problems ruined a potentially successful weekend for Ho-Pin Tung, at the circuit of Monza in the GP2-races on Saturday and Sunday. In both races the young Chinese performed strongly, after a difficult qualification. Ho-Pin Tungs' lap times were comparable with those of the top five. In Saturday's race with Ho-Pin in 9th position and in heading for points, the Japanese driver Nakajima collided into the back of Ho-Pin's car, at the second chicane. There was so much damage that the exhaust was blocked and therefore the engine stalled. This meant the end of race for Ho-Pin Tung. Nakajima's kamikaze action has lead to his disqualification from Saturday's results and a 10 places penalty for Sunday. It was hardly a comfort for the angry and disappointed Ho-Pin Tung. 'A silly and needless action it was. How hard should a driver be punished to make him aware? This was the n'th time that Nakajima ruins the race of a fellow competitor.'

Sunday mornings' race looked good at the beginning. Ho-Pin started from 15th place on the grid and was immediately very quick. ' I gained position after position,' Ho-Pin Tung reported after the race. Brake problems occurred in the second half of the race. Monza is very demanding for the brakes. 'Every lap again we brake from 320 down to 60 km/h, ' explains the young Chinese. At the famous Parabolica curve, in the very last lap Ho-Pin's worn out brakes made him to leave his race line. 'I came onto the dirt and spun off, and that was it. Again I was in 9th position and now the brakes destroyed my race.'

Ho-Pin Tung looks forward to the next edition of his first GP2 - season, at the famous and exciting circuit of Francorchamps in the Ardennes. ' It has been a long time that I have raced there, it is a very demanding and challenging track, I can hardly wait until next weekend.'
