The Direxiv Motorsport drivers Olivier Pla,Hiroki Yoshimoto and Clivio Piccione were once again out of luck at Monza in race two. Piccione (Durango) was on course for a strong result when he was penalised for his mechanics working on the car outside of the allocated time. Yoshimoto (BCN) was also a top six contender when a collision with Nelson Piquet Jr ruined his race. Pla (DPR) found his car was almost undriveable and spun out.
Clivio Piccione, Durango: 14th "My car would just not start and the mechanics had to push it. I think there was misunderstanding over the time spent on the grid because there was a problem with the lights. In the race my car was much better than yesterday and I was able to pass a lot of people and get up to P6. When they called me in for a penalty I was thinking 'what have I done?' I could not believe it. "
Hiroki Yoshimoto, BCN Competicion: 17th "A bad result again! I passed Piquet going into the last corner, but he was faster than me on the straight and overtook me into the first chicane. I got the run on him into the second chicane, but he tells me he had a broken mirror and didn't see me inside of him. The accident broke a rim on the rear wheel and also damaged the bodywork. There are only two races left now, so I really want to win at Spa next weekend."
Olivier Pla, David Price Racing: retired "The car had so much oversteer it was almost impossible to drive and that's why I spun. This has been a really difficult weekend for us, but we know the car can be good and there is no reason why we shouldn't be able to win at Spa. I love those kind of fast tracks, so let's hope everything goes alright there."
Misato Haga, President and CEO, Direxiv Motorsport: "This has been a difficult weekend for our drivers at Monza and unfortunately none of them were able to take home any points so we're just looking forward to a better race weekend in Spa next weekend."
