Tenth row for Clivio

As the GP2 Championship returns to Europe for Round 10, Clivio took to the track at the Autodromo di Monza, Italy and secured himself a place on the tenth row of the grid for the first race of the weekend.

On his debut at the circuit, Clivio completed two runs in the thirty minute Qualifying session and finished 19th on the timesheets with a 1:36.365.

Clivio:

"On my first run, I went out on new tyres. The car felt completely different from this morning in Free Practice as it had a lot less downforce. It was tricky under braking in both chicanes so I tried to use the kerb in the slow chicane but this didn't really help. I pushed as hard as I could but just wasn't able to improve on my time. Then I came into the pits and we made some changes with the wing balance and I went onto a new set of tyres.

To start with, the car felt a bit different but there really wasn't much improvement. On my first lap, I made a small mistake on the last corner. Then on the second lap, I managed to post a faster time but the tyres were almost off by this point and so I had no chance to improve on it. Monza's a tricky circuit where you really need to use the kerbs in the chicanes but you have to work out exactly how to take advantage of them to get the best out of your car. Also, there's so little downforce here that the car is difficult to handle under braking so all-in-all, it's quite a challenging track."
