Alvaro Parente keeps competitive string
Alvaro Parente was, again, one of the fastest drivers of the GP2 Series field and achieved a good fifth place on the grid of the first Monza's race of the Italian F1 Grand Prix program.
After is amazing return to the series, today he kept himself between the fastest, signing the fifth best time in a very competitive qualifying, as it shows the two tenths that he loose for the poletime.
The Portuguese youngster was very pleased with the result he got in the Monza qualifying, even though his goal is to be the fastest every time he tackles the track. "The car had a good baseline since the practice, as it proves the eighth lap time that I signed, but was a bit loose. In the qualifying we put a bit more of downforce and that improved its handling which made him faster. The lap that I did was really good, it was hard to improve it, but I think that the fifth place on the grid gives us the possibility to fight for the podium in tomorrow's race", underlined with confidence Alvaro Parente.
At Monza, it's normal to see some incidents in the first chicane, just after the start, something that the Coloni driver, who knows that a good start will be very important, wants to avoid. "Our car is fast, we just have to be careful with the tires in tomorrow's race, which gives me the opportunity to fight for the top positions. However, the first moments will be important because some drivers sometimes do strange things in the first chicane, besides we will have to react well to the lights. I think that, with a good strategy, we will be able to achieve a good result, something that would be a fantastic way of thanking Coloni the cooperation that we had in the last few weeks", said the driver who has already won at Monza.
