BOTH COLONI DRIVERS TO A POINTS FINISH: BRUNI SECOND, LAUDA SIXTH
Montecarlo - a second place of great value for Gianmaria Bruni and the Coloni Team at Montecarlo. In the Monaco GP2 race, Coloni Motorsport was once again in the front of the field, proving the good moment the Team is experiencing.
With a great launch from the grid, Bruni immediately set about challenging pole-sitter Kovalainen, and the pair pulled away out front.
After Kovalainen's pit stop, the Coloni driver found himself first, and maintained leadership till the race closing stages. But the last pit stop slowed Bruni down someway, and re-entering the track he saw Carroll drive past him.
The final laps of the race were decidedly exciting, with Bruni challenging Carroll and at the same time rebuffing Rosberg moves, finally ending up just half a second from the winner.
Great satisfaction also with Lauda's sixth spot. The Austrian said at the end of the race to be truly happy with being finally able to score some points and finish the race, even though experiencing some problems.
"I am happy with my second place" said Bruni "I could have done better, but just before my pit stop I ran into a couple of lapped cars which slowed my pace and, considering how difficult this circuit is, I preferred to be careful"
Enthusiast Team Principal Paolo Coloni. "To be second on this circuit is a really great result! This track is always difficult and to finish with two cars in the points is a satisfaction that gratifies our work as a team. After today's race we are second both in the Drivers' and the Teams' classification, and I am also sure that, in the future, we will be able to do even better".
