GIANMARIA BRUNI ON THE FRONT ROW AT MONTECARLO, LAUDA SIXTEENTH

Montecarlo - the Monaco GP2 week-end started well for Gianmaria Bruni. The Coloni Motorsport's driver took a brilliant second spot, just behind his rival Heikki Kovalainen.

Bruni showed to be fast from the beginning, but he did his best in the closing stages of the qualifying session. At only two minutes from the end, he set his fastest lap, recording a time of 1'24''724, only 59 thousandths shy of the pole.

"I am happy with the result" said Bruni at the end of the session "It was quite a good qualifying for us, which will give us a good opportunity tomorrow and also shows we are working well. Unfortunately, I got some traffic on my final lap. If not for that, I could have taken the pole."

Mathias Lauda will start from the eighth row of the grid and will do his best to exploit all the potential of his Coloni car. At the end of the session he said again that his car feels very good. Thanks to the Coloni engineers set-up, the single- seater is always very competitive and in such a demanding circuit as this, it is important that every detail should be checked.

Tomorrow, then, will take place the sole GP2 race of the week-end and Coloni Motorsport has already stated its intentions.
