Unfortunately it wasn't a brilliant day for Racing Engineering's Borja Garcia and Neel Jani at the Magny Cours track. However, the race weekend just started and the important thing is how it will finish.

The GP2 weekend format allows drivers to make corrections of their Friday results during the Saturday as well as the Sunday races. And this will be Racing Engineering's goal during this weekend in order to reduce the bad luck suffered during the Friday sessions.

Neel Jani spun off the track in his second flying lap within the first five minutes of the 30-minute qualifying session. However, with only one fast lap time, the Racing Engineering driver will start tomorrow's race from 15th position on the grid leaving quite some drivers, who competed throughout the entire session, behind him. It was doubtlessly disappointing as the young Swiss could have easily been once more within the first rows of the grid. Neel is looking forward to tomorrow's race where the objective is making up as many positions as possible in order to start Sunday's race from a more favorable position.

Borja Garcia isn't satisfied with his qualifying session either and will start the race one position ahead of his teammate. Finding the proper set up only towards the end of the qualifying session, it was too late to get the maximum out of his Bridgestone tyres.

At the end of the day Neel Jani commented, "during my first lap out I felt the car really good but sadly enough Yoshimoto went off right in front of me. Avoiding a crash I lost some time. In the last sector I was additionally slowed down by Kovalainen, who was going really slowly as he wanted to have a free lap. And in the second lap I spun off...Pity as I was happy with the car and convinced that we could make a good th result today. But even like this, with just one lap, I am 15 and this, given the circumstances, is not so bad. Of course it means that I have to start in the middle of the field and it might be critical going into the hairpin. But once this is passed a lot is possible".

Borja Garcia said, "I wasn't too happy with the set up of my car at the beginning of the session but after an important change the car was much better. Well, I made my fastest lap time at the end of the session when my tyres were already used and not good enough for a really fast lap time. I hope I have a good start tomorrow and my goal is finishing the race within the first eight scoring points".
