Last time out in Singapore, the 22-year-old Carlin driver put in one of the performances of the season to clinch victory in the Feature Race, his second such triumph of the season after success in Hungary in July. From a maiden pole position in the championship, he suffered a slow start but fought back magnificently to close down a 13 second gap to team mate Felipe Nasr and pass him with four laps to go, ultimately winning by 13 seconds.

After dominating the weekend, having also been fastest in practice, Jolyon expects similar results in the final GP2 weekend of the season. The last time the series raced at the Yas Marina venue, Jolyon secured a maiden podium finish in the ‘GP2 Finals’ event in 2011.

“After over a month off, I’m raring to go again for the final round in Abu Dhabi this weekend” he enthused. “I’ve had a lot of time to prepare for it and I’m feeling confident that we can pick up where we left off in Singapore and finish the season on a high.”
