Ocean Racing Technology aiming for the podium GP2's Portuguese team hoping for Turkish delight
Ocean Racing Technology is planning to capture further strong performances in Istanbul (Turkey) this coming weekend, for the third round of the GP2 Main Series Championship. The Portuguese team is aiming to continue their solid run in Monaco where Karun Chandhok led the majority of the second race while teammate Alvaro Parente also wants to convert his strong performance into points. Ocean Racing Technology opened its scorecard on the very challenging technical street layout in Monaco with Karun Chandhok and they are now hoping to be able to fight successfully for a podium finish in Turkey in order to definitely put the disappointment in Monte Carlo behind them where they were victim of a technical incident which deprived them of certain victory after the Indian driver all but conquered the race.
Karun stresses that Ocean Racing Technology has already proved that they have the necessary package to fight for victory with the top teams. "I have great confidence in what we can do in Turkey," he says. "The events in Monaco were both encouraging and extremely frustrating. They were gratifying because Ocean Racing Technology showed that it could fight with the very best teams of the GP2 Main Series, but obviously the raw result was negative because scoring zero points because of a mechanical gremlin that you can't anticipate when you are leading most of the race is one of the biggest disappointments you can have in motorsport. I hope history won't repeat itself and that we will be able to fight with the front runners in Turkey."
The Turkish weekend will mark the third weekend of the fifth season for the GP2 Main Series, and Alvaro Parente is hoping that Istanbul will bring him a Turkish delight which will help him forget his first two rather difficult outings in both Barcelona and Monaco. "It is the third round of the season and I am very motivated to secure some points. I know we have everything we need to secure a good result and I hope the entire weekend will run smoothly, with no mishaps and no mistakes whatsoever," explains the Portuguese driver. "I know this track rather well and I like it. I hope the team's performance will be great and that we will be able to regularly fight for the points in order to maximise our potential and to translate it into good results."
