FDA -- The Ferrari youngsters also have a bad Saturday

Istanbul, 29 May -- It definitely has not been a lucky Saturday for Ferrari. The outcome of qualifying for the Turkish Grand Prix was pretty disappointing for the Scuderia drivers and the same could be said for the young colleagues of the Ferrari Driver Academy who were on track today -- Jules Bianchi in GP2 and Mirko Bortolotti in GP3. The Frenchman's race did not even last a lap. Having started from twelfth on the grid, Jules retired after a collision with Pic when attempting a passing move. The win went to Pastor Maldonaldo, followed home by Davide Valsecchi and Jules' Art Grand Prix team-mate, Sam Bird.

It was also a very disappointing day for Mirko Bortolotti. The opening lap also proved final for the Italian driver. Mirko started from eleventh on the grid, but had to pit at the end of the opening lap and then ran his race at the back of the pack, eventually being classified twenty fifth. Some meagre consolation for Mirko is that he at least finished Race 1, after he only completed a few kilometres in Barcelona. Tomorrow both series have their second race: the GP3 event is at 10.25 and the GP2 race at 11.35.
